The seasoned staff at Dalma Consulting has been designing and building professional
websites since 1995. Simple sites that are a page or two; websites with thousands
of interactive pages; and fully functional database driven applications that manage
entire businesses - we've done it all.
Early Days of Brochure Ware
In the early days, most websites were simple "brochure ware." Many businesses decided they wanted their
brochures on the web. We did a lot of those sorts of sites for large companies like
Frigidaire, Dirt Devil, Stanley Steemer, American Electric Power, and Checkfree just to
name a few. We also did a lot of work for smaller "Mom and Pop" businesses.
Most of these early sites were static, online representations of collateral pieces.
Interactive and the Web as a Platform
Over time, websites became interactive. Companies saw the value in offloading tasks
to their website. Before we knew it, we were building
"web applications". A good example of this
- American Electric Power realized it was easier for them to collect resumes over the web and be done with paper.
These resumes could be stored in a database, tracked, reviewed, and referenced easily through a secure application.
Other companies quickly joined suit and before we knew it, the web had become a platform for
applications that saved businesses time and money.
One of the most prominent examples of this is the work we have done for
Techdisposal.
Techdisposal is an e-waste recycler that had
specific inventory management needs. Low end
software was too simple and high end software would cost them millions. Techdisposal needed
something in-between. Dalma Consulting was tasked to design and build a fully interactive
database driven solution. This solution was web-based and tailored specifically to their needs.
To this day the software serves as the "life blood" of the company as it allows the staff to manage
inventory, create work orders, handle logistics, handle billing as well as perform other company
critical tasks. It has streamlined the business process for the company and allowed the company
to grow six fold to become an Inc 500 winner several years in a row.
Another example of Dalma Consulting creating a usable web-app is
Piano Credit Company (PCC).
PCC was originally founded in in 1998 to handle large loans to customers
of piano dealerships. Originally, when a customer made a purchase and wanted a loan, that customer
filled out a paper application by hand. The application was then faxed to PCC's office. A credit
check was performed by PCC staff and an answer was faxed back.
The paper process was was cumbersome, time consuming, and prone to error. PCC decided to
innovate by moving this entire process onto the web. Dalma Consulting was hired to design and build
the web-based application. The new website authenticates dealers, allows for input of the
customer's application, provides real-time instant credit checks, tracks the purchase,
and generates approval forms. All within seconds under a blanket of heavy-duty security and encryption.
eCommerce Solutions
eCommerce quickly rolled onto the scene. In late 1995 our staff was proud to help build one of
the first eCommerce websites for Camelot Music - a music CD retailer looking to sell music CD's
on the web. Other eCommerce websites followed. Now we are proud to have built eCommerce
solutions for
St. Johns Bay Rum,
Proven Promo,
Heartland Herbs,
Order of Malta Merchandise,
Betty Jean Art,
Lambi Bros,
as well as other clients.
